PRODUCT STORY: SHAKU CHAIR
The Shaku Chair is not just a piece of furniture; it's a journey through time, a warm, beautiful, and simple chair that seems to narrate the history itself. In Ronan Bouroullec's words, "We have invented something new, but at the same time, it is somewhere linked to history. We are very happy that we could come up with such a design."
"For KOYORI, we could successfully reveal the beauty of the wood, the beauty of the craftsmanship, and the connection between them," Ronan explains. The focus on extreme precision, inspired by Japanese manufacturing, is evident in every curve and contour. Comfort is paramount, and each chair is designed to make you feel as if you are receiving personal attention from both the designer and the manufacturer.
The unique feature of the seat base cradling the backrest requires an extraordinary level of processing and assembling accuracy, allowing for a precise clearance gap of 0.5mm underneath the seat. This expressive modeling experience has resulted in a relatively high backrest, making the chair not only aesthetically pleasing but also incredibly comfortable, defying its modest size.
